Saw this guy in a pet store the other day labled as "birdeater". It looks like an asian species to me, and had some web spun around, but not a whole lot. But of course i wouldnt be asking you guys if i actually had faith in my own opinion. Any ideas?
@cold blood yes, I believe it was an early zoological illustration of an avicularia chewing on a dead hummingbird. No one claimed to have seen it actively hunting this bird. And there is some question as to whether the artist included the bird simply to give some context as to the actual size of the spider. In other words, it may very well have been just a little piece of two-dimensional theatre contrived to catch the imagination of the viewer.
