P. irminia
@AgnO "Not the only one doing it", so things that are not smart, or unwise, or risky to do are OK if done in large numbers, BUT if you are the only one in the universe doing it, then it would be bad?? That's not logical at all. One is a murderer whether they are the only one who kills, or the entire country is full of killers. ;)

@viper69 Your comparison does not make sense. You're trying to treat the subject socially while you forget my action involves on me, alone. This happens every time someone tries to go all philosophical on a topic that is very simple and is just a matter of common sense.
If this was an educational forum for children, I wouldn't post handling pictures considering the audience, but since we are all grown ups here, I believe everyone has the capacity to act based on his/her own reasoning.

@AgnO I think your statement of "I'm not the only one" doesn't make sense hah. How is that justification? If your actions involve only you, why are you using the fact that many others do it as a defense for your position??? This is a contradiction. It's the principal of the matter, not how many are doing it. Speeding is speeding, whether it's 1 mph over the limit or 50 mph over the limit. The law will find a speeder guilty. As some say "common sense ain't common". Not everyone's reasoning is logical however. Not everyone who visits this forum actually knows what is safe and what isn't safe for their pet. Your photo doesn't help those who are just looking and don't know the negative results which may happen in doing this. It's very simple as you said ;)

@AgnO This is a family friendly forum, if you think there are no children around...think again. Just accept the facts and move on, your actions were extremely irresponsible no matter how you try to paint it. Handling a living being that depends on you to survive, and gambling with its life for fun isn't going to get you any admiration here.

If one day you get tagged, I certainly hope the irminia isn't the one that gets you...if it does you'll remember "all those angry folks from AB" were actually right, and just giving you good advice to keep yourself and your pet safe.

@RezonantVoid That is my point also. I have a P. regalis that I would never place my hand anywhere near and I only use long tweezers for feeding, cleaning and all. My B. boehmei is a flicker and needs approaching carefully, she's a no-touching also. Same goes for my N. chromatus that either hides immediately or shows fangs.
My P. irminia on the other hand, just likes to run around (at least so far, maybe as an adult she will change attitude). She's never showed a threatening pose so.... based on these observations and knowing myself (by which I mean that I won't panic and go all crazy if she runs on my shoulder or bolt across the room), I am able to decide whether I'll risk handling her or not.

@Nightstalker47 Please, don't be so dramatic: "handling a living being that depends on you to survive, and gambling with its life for fun". If you really think like that, start putting on a campaign against keeping all sorts of pets and letting them live in the wild, because WE DO KEEP PETS FOR FUN, and that means it is selfish of us.

@viper69 I am not using it as a defence Viper69. I'm trying to say that many others share my way of thinking and don't go around telling people that don't handle tarantulas, that they are wrong and other stuff. You are trying to tell me that I'm justifying myself since other people do the same wrong thing, while I don't consider it wrong at all.

@AgnO I see your point regarding others. I took your meaning the other way as that is how most people use the "it's not only me" defense. Of course handlers don't tell non-handlers they are doing something wrong, because we aren't. They would be such idiots if they did.

After reading your response to @Nightstalker47 I can see where you are coming from in terms of knowing your T etc. However, @Nightstalker47 isn't making something up or being overly dramatic. Let's look at the facts

1. You are the human owner
2. Your T is primarily powerless to anything you do towards it. All it can do is run or bite. It can't communicate and have a debate on whether it wants to come out and play haha
3. Your T is a living being- fact
4. Your T does depend upon you to survive, it's not a plant living outdoors that makes its own food via the sun hahah
5. Going by what you know of your T, you are most definitely making an assumption that the irminia will not flip out, let's call this an educated assumption at best.
6. In point of fact our Ts are all wild animals, and we have plenty of people coming here telling us how they were handling their DOCILE T, like a B. albo, and all of a sudden for no reason, it leaped off their hand, went up a firesplace (true story), OR leaped to its death, got lost etc etc... Meaning despite your observations you are taking a RISK with the life of your pet. If you don't see that as a risk, then you MUST be able to read the mind of your irmina.

@viper69 This is very funny! Just checking about other handling pictures in the gallery, and as far as I checked, I'm the only one receiving the 'moral talk'. There must be something about me that attracts you people. Also another funny thing, here's another comment of yours from 2 years ago approx.: "viper69 @AgnO No you aren't careful. If you were careful you wouldn't have handled your freshly molted T. The fact that you knew not to do so and did so anyway just demonstrates poor husbandry. You "couldn't resist", your level of self control was abysmal. I hope your T survives to reach adulthood in your care. I'll be shocked if it does.

She's all good you know, became an adult last year!

@AgnO You might be the only person who posted a picture where I said something, but trust me man, you aren't the first and not the past person that I will say handling isn't right for the reasons @Nightstalker47 , myself and many others here cite. We all the same thing in different ways. I mostly reference handling in forum posts that are not pictured oriented. Nothing special about you to be honest, ie not personal. Sometimes I don't even comment, just too many things to do.

I remember that post clear as day. I think you were the first person I have seen that did that. I stand by my words, and would tell anyone the same thing! I'm glad she is an adult despite your poor husbandry choice.
