Nhandu carapoensis sp red [2/2]
second try with this molt. hoping this is enough :) I am changing my guess as to gender to Female ... right/wrong? I am going by the slit between the top set of lungs but i am a total rookie at this LOL
Yes, that is a female. Also what it is up with the "sp. red"? I've never heard of Nhandu carapoensis "sp. red".

@Liquifin Dunno i am thinking my wife messed up the labels she wanted to wrote out LOL. We just picked it ... her up last Sunday and have not had a chance to really do much but rehome and be shocked that it molted LOL

thanks and will correct the error :)

OK clarifying question time ... so there is the horizontal slit between the top set of lungs. that i see clearly. but what are the two circle shaped structures coming off from that?

@Counselor That is the spermatheca. It is the receptacle for the sperm after mating. They differ from species to species in form, so they won’t look like that on every tarantula. However, keep that picture as that is a textbook shot of what to look for when sexing.

@FrDoc Thanks! Was trying to get a decent shot, even used the macro lens for my phone. Ultimately, had to stick a flashlight behind it to be able to see and then it was obvious. Was afraid I had "scraped" all the tell tale bits off when I was spreading it out on the paper towel ... Will be the method I use going forward for sure.
