I received her from a friend who has grown far too sensitive to urticating hairs and is dramatically cutting down her NW collection. She’s the gentlest girl and has the sweetest face!
Lovely, pretty, girl. My Portia is as sweet as can be as well and I have taken her to expos with me to show the public (I know, I know, I am a horrible tarantula mum).
It's unusual for Grammostola hairs to cause problems. This is one genus that does not bother me at all and they very rarely actively kick them.
Your friend's loss is definitely your gain.
I've never experienced Grammostola kicking hairs at me. Anyways, she's a stunning beauty. My small juvie just molted few days ago and those yellows are getting more visible. Can't wait to see her grow bigger.
@Vanessa@Hoxter They don’t bother me at all either. Gertie doesn’t actually kick and is a lovely ambassador! It’s the ambient hairs that get stirred up when the enclosure lid is opened, she walks around, etc. that have given my friend major rashes. I feel bad for her and hope I never get so sensitive!
