@Ungoliant Theoretically they are burrowers, yes, but mine didn't get the memo although she likes her hide. Always moist - slings die as soon as things dry out just a little - and cool. One of the few spiders that can be kept at 65F and even below long term.
@Ungoliant For me the hairs are pretty harmless and she's never been a big kicker anyway.
People are undecided about the maximum temp. Some say they do well at up to 80F and even higher but I've heard that males turn out sterile if raised at temps above 75F. Personally I think they tolerate higher temps well - for a (short) while, but not permanently. They were my only spiders that were even more active in Winter when temps in my house can drop down to 65F at night and may stay below 70F during day. They still fed and molted on schedule while everyone else slowed down.
