L.geometricus
What made you determine this was geometricus exactly? I know that they can be totally dark but I am curious.
 
@NYAN you can still see typical L.geometricus patterns in the scales beneath the black color morphs of brown widows. Also this one in particular was a female that expired after laying. The eggs sac shapes are a give away.
 
@Ungoliant Thanks for the link, however I’m very well aware how to differentiate the different species in North America. I was asking how the original poster determined the identification.
 
I need help. I'm trying to identify a spider that I used to own. It was deep brown almost black and large like a tarantula, but not so hairy. Markings were neon greenish yellow dots on abdomen.
