My B. hamorii (or smithi?) molted this afternoon!
EDIT: It turns out my Diva is a girl but this is not evident until two molts later (see comments below)!
@Trenor Already ~3 inch DLS! He can't be more than 3 years old and while he's had pauses in growth like any T, he grows noteably with every molt -- not a slow-growing T compared with my others! I am not trying to "power feed/grow" but maybe it has sort of happened because the AC in the appartment is not the best and the bedroom/T-room regularly gets over 80F 4-6 months of the year.
I'm quite attached to this guy, in part because he's my first T ever, so I'm looking into getting a female near maturity since he could be a molt or two away (maybe?) and one of my Ephebopus murinus already surprised me by hooking out much sooner and smaller than I'd expected.
I'll post a pic of my handsome guy next week or after I'm sure his exoskeleton is fully hardened.
@ErinM31 Cool, I hope you can find yourself a female when the time comes. If you can't keep me in mind. My two girls are young but mature and would likely love some company.
@Trenor What state of their molt cycles are your girls in? My boy may not molt until spring (although his abdomen looks like a giant grape, lol) but I will be surprised if this next molt isn’t his final. My younger smaller B. albopilosum just hooked out and I was not expecting that! :wideyed:
Either B. hamorii and B. albopilosum are quite different or there is quite a bit of variance between individuals — probably both, right? My B. hamorii has molted twice more, grown larger and feistier, but hasn’t hooked out yet:
