About 1 and 1/2 inches found in Oregon it appears to be a kind of trapdoor? I have never seen anything like it here.

It's definitely a female trapdoor, absolutely stunning find! Did you take any additional pics of it?

All trapdoors globally are for the most part mildly venomous, so this one is not dangerous to people
