Most beetles are very difficult to impossible to identify fom a pic. This as very likely a ground beetle (Carabidae) but other than that?

@boina Would a video be any better? Can't upload those but I can make a link. It does look like Carabidae according to google.

@raeanna No that wouldn't help. There are at least a dozen Carabidae looking very much alike.

The species is river stone. It's basically made of minerals and such......
