Hogna carolinensis

Hogna carolinensis

She was a bugger to catch but it was worth it
I've been hoping to spot one in the wild, because it's our state spider, but I only ever find Hogna lenta.

@Ungoliant go out at night put a flashlight on your forehead and there eyes reflect the light back... there super easy to find that way... it took me so long to catch one because all of the ones I was finding were super small and I'm not in the mood to take care of small wolfers

I'm so happy i finally caught one... I've been wanting one ever since I got into the hobby two years ago (there my favorite invert PERIOD)

@Wolfspidurguy I have no trouble finding wolf spiders (large and small) in my yard. They're just never Hogna carolinensis. (I'm not sure that yours is either. Can you take a ventral shot?)

The easiest way to distinguish between different species of Hogna is with a ventral shot.

In contrast, here are female and male ventrals of Hogna carolinensis.
