Grammostola pulchripes
Never understood people saying an enclosure is too big. They aren't living in vials or small deli cups in the wild. I've raised slings in much larger enclosures and never lost one. Trust me this little guy uses his whole enclosure then comes home to chill in it's burrow. Love watching it.

@Spideramor Wasn't insinuating that it's a problem, not like you have him in a 10 gallon tank lmao. IME it's easier to monitor them in smaller enclosures, and reputable users have noted slings kept in smaller enclosures seem to have much better feeding responses and in turn growth rates. Good to know you've had success in keeping them in larger enclosures though, and I'll agree that it's cool to watch how they interact with their environment. I don't think the slings really care anyway, as long as they have cover and/or substrate to bury themselves in.

Yeah I don't keep them in large enclosures anymore. The first sling I raised I kept in a 10 gallon lol. 20 years ago when I didn't know any better. It did just fine though. The enclosure in the pic is actually pretty small. 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. With a little over 2 inches of substrate. The closeup makes it look a lot bigger. The sling is very small. I gave it a little room to grow.

@Spideramor Oh jeeze, that just sounds like a nightmare. Spend a good 10 minutes just trying to find the darn thing. :wideyed:

That sling has to be absolutely itty bitty, with those enclosure dimensions. I usually house a little on the large side for my faster growing species and OWs, the less rehouses I have to do, the better. :p
