This is right after setting up, moistened top layer to help substrate settle. Letting it dry out before adding T. Eco Earth substrate 2" from top. Will have acrylic top with vent holes for lid. 2.5 gallon tank. Plants: Anacampseros rufescens and crassula 'Isabella'. Home made bark hide.
3/4" It is a little bigger then what a lot of people would suggest, however I wanted it in an enclosure that wouldn't be easily knocked over. As well as it's going to take forever to grow and wanted it to have a more 'permanent' type of deal. I don't leave feeders in with my T's and use tongs so the size really doesn't feel like an issue for me, especially keeping the space between the substrate and top as short as I have it if it DID decide to crawl up. The space is actually 11x6x2
Finding prey should not be an issue, just throw a pin head in over night. If the tarantula is hungry it will hunt, and the cricket will be bound to cross the spiders path eventually
I may try and make a little feeding dish or something and consider leaving food in. I'm gonna be switching to dubia so I want to avoid the burrowing. I don't want to go lats for various reasons. And I don't want to leave crickets with a sling unsupervised even if they are pinhead just in case I don't notice it's going into premolt. I think I can scrounge up a dish for dubia nymphs that they couldn't get out of though.
@JAG2469 Thank. After getting the suggestion from The Snark, I'm gonna let it sit for a week or so and see how the plants do before putting it in there. Then again I still have to get it in the mail before I can ever do that too >.> Evil USPS... lol
@MrSmith86 I'm sorry. I hope they make it safe. I'd just like to know what the hell is going on with mine. All my tracking info says is that they've received 'preshipping' info, but no indication of a package and no indication of where it's even at, but the website order status states it's shipped. It was supposed to be 1-3 day priority and shipped out Wednesday. Completely in the dark right now. Still waiting on a reply from shipper. I sent them another email through their 'contact us' instead of replying to the shipping info (Though it said to reply to it if there was any questions). Third email, hopefully this one gets through and I get a response as to if it's even actually shipped or not.
