@Rhino1 I tossed in a cricket to see what she would do. Links jumped up out of now where and tore the cricket to pieces. She ate the whole thing. Meat, exo skeleton, everything in 25 minutes. I am now a fan forever and hopefully will be adding more.
PS. I sent that video to my Facebook that I never use and my friends and not one of them said cute. Plenty of “Ugh” period though. Half way there I guess. Haha
Haha yeah they would be hard to love, @Drea solifugids are so cool, I wish we had something similar in Australia.
My wife and I watched a documentary years ago on these things and Ive wanted one since. The video is a great share, it was cool to see your post then see the video in the new enclosure a few hours later.
I was reading a thread on here just the other day about how feeding, hibernation and enclosures will affect the lifespan of them, it's all very interesting.
After @Ungoliant mentioned her looking like a tick and might be I did a bunch of research. You can actually see the eggs inside of her and they look more like ovals than round balls so she should lay her eggs within the week.
She has already made a nest. The best part about that is she made a little window so I could see. I just hope I catch her in the process.
@Ungoliant I plan to raise them up. Expecting anywhere from 50 to 200. Once she lays the eggs, they hatch in 3 to 4 weeks.
Some I will keep to study and document their life cycle.
Some will be given to others to enjoy if they want the pleasure of these amazing animals.
Some will be released back into the area they were found in order to maintain existence and hopefully thrive in the wild. I don’t see many of these ever so I hope to see more in the future.
