I'm aiming to get a recording of her hunting prey. she's apparently extra game and not only took down her first large cricket last night but came outside to dump the remains (unless she flung it from her palisade)
My E. turrificus girl aso took her first cricket last night.
She had been busy setting up her burrow over the past couple of weeks. It was the second time that I had offered a meal since she entered the household. I left the cricket in her container two days before and was going to remove it this morning on my way to work, but, I couldn't find it. I opened her turret lid and there she was sitting with some remains still in her mouth. When I get home tomorrow, I will have to check the clay/sand/coir substrate balls that she has been launching out of her burrow for launched leftovers.
Did you offer your cricket in the housing or the turret?
@Dave1969 actually just left it in her enclosure, she's eaten 6 small crickets before so I was keen to see if she'd take anything larger and sure enough, yes.
She has been flicking clumps of substrate put the top as well lol
@RezonantVoid, the substrate balls have even splattered against the roof of my girl's container some 5cm above the roof of her turret. She must have some sort of throwing arm.
I love the smoothness of that tunnel! @RezonantVoid I’m sure that a gif of this girl would be awesome. Is she as ecstatic as the other girl you made an amazing gif of?
@MrGhostMantis she's very laid back.and not as active as my Euoplos Variabilis. This one takes a few hours to eat, but my Euoplos Variabilis eats in only minutes
