Dolomedes sp. (tenebrosus?)

A looooong leggy lady out for a stroll by the creek. *wolf whistle*
They're pretty quick pretty little things. They definitely deserve a, non-threatening, wolf spider whistle for those leggy legs. I caught a local species (80 mm leg span) while night bushwalking with one of my son's two weeks ago. She even had a red/orange racing stripe along her side. We released her in the same location two nights later.

The superficial resemblance to Lycosids is another reason for that wolf woo wooooo.

@Dave1969 Defintely.
I didn't get to see how quick she was, I didn't do anything to disturb her. So she just sat there and posed for me. I named her Nvya (stone) because she just pretended to be a rock. lol I loved her fat wagon... Woo! Woo! I wonder if she was gravid, pretty mama.

That racing strip sounds wicked, love it!
And that's great that you returned her proper, good on you.

Nice! I caught a female a couple weeks ago, they're awesome little speed demons, almost like a huntsman spider

@Dave1969 I got this 160mm bohemoth of a water spooder at Bellingen I tried taking a photo of on a log. One second it was there, the next I blinked and it wasn't lol

I was surprised at this one's size! She was the biggest native I've ever seen here, I think the fishers are the biggest genus around here in general but this one was... woof! Compared to my hand, I honestly want to guess at 4" (10.16cm)! I think that might be thier max size.

She was SO bleeping pretty and I wanted to keep her SO bad!
