Had this tarantula for nearly 4 years but I'm still not certain of its id. I bought it as E. parvulus but as it's gold and stripes are very muted I have always believed that she is a P. scrofa. When I look at pics of either species however she always seems somewhere in between.
@Arachnid Addicted You're absolutely right, the more I research into Euathlus the more misinformation I find has been perpetuated in the hobby, with our P. scrofa actually be E. parvulus and our E. parvulus generally being E. manicata and so on. Only good source is the Chileans themselves. I'm still not certain on what species mine is though, some say parvulus and others say manicata. I actually think E. condorito is possible. At this point I'll probably have to just wait till she moults and identify her by her spermathecae
@Kron tbh, from what I talked to a chilean keeper, hobby P. scrofa doesnt have an actual species, I believe they call E. sp. "Metropolitana", now. Once they were called E. parvulus "RCF" but apparently, they arent, unless someone examined these specimens correctly. Problem is, they were wrongly spread as Phrixotrichus, as you know, and lots of hobbysts have hard time to understand it. Hopefully you'll get your answer soon.
