P. fasciata [1/3]
Hardened up nicely, anyone willing to take a guess?
@MBArachnids I don’t know about me being a senior member, but yeah, I am pretty active for sure.

And for your question, to be honest, I am no where near expert for vent sexing.

If I were you, I would wait for one or two more molts to be clear.

@BoyFromLA I am not in a hurry, I read a threa the other day where they said something about dot sexing with pokies that are smaller so i took a chance.

I am new to pokies (only 1 year now) and I have never tried this dot sexing they were talking about and searching online is futile.

Well let's see if someone comes along that can make me more knowledgeable :D

Looks female in this pic, can't tell from the others. What's the leg span? IIRC, you can only use the dot method from around 2" upwards (gets more obvious the larger they are)

@The Grym Reaper It was just over 2" before the molt, so I would say about 2.3 - 2.5" now.

I will wait for another molt or 2 and then pm you directly if that is fine? I am in no hurry, i am actually more curious how you check for this dot.... I tried google but it is very unclear, i am unsure of what you are looking at to identify the sex. Where is this dot o_O:D

If I had to guess, I would say female.

When looking for the dot, you look at the center of the epigastric furrow between the first set of booklungs. A female has a pouch there, and males do not.

@Teal To think I searched google up and down, thank you Teal this makes sense. It is easier to see it with the naked eye than to rely on a photo, I will examine my T this afternoon :D

You're welcome! :D Google sometimes hasn't a clue what you're looking for haha And yes, in person it should be rather easy to see!
