Where does your friend live? It looks like an Erategena or Tegenaria species.

@NYAN Northeastern Ohio. I'm no expert, but I was thinking it matched an Eratigena species myself.

@netherguard Eratigena lack banding on the legs, and AFAIK do not have established populations in much of Eastern North America. This could be Tegenaria like T. domestica or it could be another genus like Coras.

@netherguard In Ohio, this is most likely a barn funnel weaver (Tegenaria domestica) -- harmless.
