P metallica can play tricks on you ventrally unless they are blatantly obvious.

When attempting to get a gender via ventrals i recommend getting multiple CLEAR photos of the same spider with different lighting. Try shining a flashlight upwards (from bottom spinnerettes to fangs) then again the other way (fangs to spinnerettes)

Lighting from different angles has helped me get a better idea on gender with metallicas in my own collection.
