Latrodectus hesperus drinking
This is my queen, Saber! I've raised her from a tiny sling. She's about ~3 years old now.
@NYAN I've had her for over two years, and I'm *guessing* she was several months old when I found her... so just estimating... she's an old girl now though :')

Woah, I never realised latros lived that long! Unfortunately the resident L.Hasselti at our shed door died presumably of old age yesterday, love watching them capture prey

@RezonantVoid Yeah, I think I read that they can live about 3-ish years in captivity? If I remember correctly from @Widowman10 ... so my girl probably has limited time :embarrassed:

And aww, I also like watching them live and eat freely like that. I get a bit sad when there's a spider I always see and suddenly it's gone.

When you google ‘how long does a black widow live,’ the answer is 6 months to a year. I knew this was 2-3 years at least though, who knows though.

@Krystal Anne you're absolutely right - roughly 3 years. You could probably stretch it just a little further if you cooled them and slowed things down just a little. :)
