Halysidota tessellaris, or banded tussock moth caterpillar. I was investigating a nearby tree after work and found two of these, another type of tussock moth caterpillar, and tons of other super interesting finds. I only took home the caterpillars though
I like fuzzy caterpillars! This one taught me not to handle them when I was a kid! I had some reaction to the bristles and my fingers swelled until I could hardly bend them! It passed after a day but now I use a leaf or so if I need to rescue one.
@ErinM31 Yeah, a lot of the fuzzy ones have urticating hairs just like tarantulas or even venom inside the urticating hairs. I honestly can't remember if I've ever had a reaction to their bristles (I probably have, just forgot), but anything fuzzy gets the leaf instead of my hands
