When Theraphosa begin premolt they will get dark spots on their abdomens which in time the whole abdomen darkens considerably. The older they get the longer it takes to go thru this process.
It's hard to see in that pic but she's starting to get dark kinda blotchy spots on her abdomen. They are slowly getting darker. She's barely moves. Just changes position every 5 or 6 hours and stopped eating. Stays in her den.
Early signs of premolt for Theraphosa. My Theraphosa, when in early premolt stop eating for a spell, get lethargic then resurface to feed again to fatten up before the duration of the process. I’ve have 2 that are over 10 years old...same process but takes 6-7 months at that age/size! LOL...they’ve taught me patience
At that size, she is still a large juvenile! At 7-8” females are young adults. Over that, they become adults. Enjoy her, hopefully she’ll be around for 10-20 years
