I have a friend in Texas that has a variety of Ts running around and I was hoping for an ID on this one. I have an idea. Just need a few opinions. Ty!!!
Most Aphonopelma MMs look very similar...doubt an ID could be done with a photograph. Knowing the precise location may help though. @AphonopelmaTX has a good handle on what species lives where, especially in TX.

Yeah, but that spider is jet black, or at least looks that way on my screen. That doesn't look like any Texas aphonopelma I've ever seen, and I grew up there as a very buggie kid.

Something doesn’t look quite right with that tarantula. It maybe just the picture but it looks black because it is completely bald. Although there are black male tarantulas in Texas, this one just doesn’t look right. It would be best to know what town/ city in Texas that picture was taken to get an idea of what tarantula species it could be.

Are we sure that isn't Kukulcania arizonica or the like? People are always bringing me these and asking me what kind of "tarantula" they are. They're big, I'll give you that!

Well, that was my first thought, as well, and I agree upon second glance--but he's sure a queer one.

And how old is the picture? It's not tarantula season in Texas unless that house is virtually on the border...and even so, too early for wandering males unless he was a disturbed survivor from last year.

Thanks for the tips! Not sure about the town but I will ask. And she said this photo was from last year.
I absolutely love the lil things. Just not that educated on all the various types and breeds.

@Baz I'm not sure that this is even a tarantula. The baldness and even the contour of the carapace looks off.

It looks more like a male trapdoor spider (Eucteniza) of some kind, though why it's on a brick wall is anyone's guess.
