Yep, I found the exact same thing. I always photograph them from the front and the back and it makes a WORLD of difference in what you see. Especially on small individuals.
You know it's funny that you should say that. I actually just flipped my molt upside down without flipping it over. But just to make sure, I just flipped it over too, to look for that bushy shield shape so common with males. It wasn't there. So yeah, flip them then flip them again!
