EDIT: Whoops, this is in the Nantahala National Forest in SC (USA)... not NY like I originally captioned it
@Sadie11 I knew that was a weird statement as I was typing it! It is just so close you can see the hairs on the legs and antennae. The amount of hair and the closeness makes them have a barbed look to me. I guess it's to help keep those hundreds of legs clean. I'll go back to my anatomy book!
 
@Sadie11 Some of the longer legged species don't have near the grip some of the shorter legged guys. Thai Rainbows are the grippiest of all! You can't lift them off usually; you have to tempt them to crawl onto a stick or something.
