It is likely a female California Ebony Tarantula(Aphonopelma eutylenum). I say it is likely a female because of the differences in proportionality between this spider and the countless males that flood the area around my house every fall. Of course it is always possible that it is similar Aphonopelma species. However because you live in Southern California it is unlikely.
