They can sense the vibration off the camera shutter on your phone, but don't worry as soon your sling will get used to it and will eventually sit for pics , some of my more shy sp specifically fossorial t's seem to be more prone to doing this , although I have had a few arboreal t's do the same thing all my fossorial t's have. Can I just say extremely cool sp I hope you keep posting updates as she () gets bigger, rarely see the Australian sp on here

Wow, I didn't know they had senses THAT sensitive. Every photo opp I manage to instigate or by chance, literally the second the phone clicks, the little guys all scarper! I'm VERY new to the hobby, but that is impressive. I love my little dudes, they may not be as 'flashy' as exotic sp, however I think they beautiful (cause flashy ain't everything right?). My fingers are crossed that I have some females in my collection cause of their size but I really do hope one of my Blue Legged Tarantula is a male for the colouring, I've seen some pics . Thankyou for your comment and new info for me to digest, really appreciate it

There are some flashy sp but I have seen some of the spiders/t's yous get there and they are amazing the hues of gold and copper , big red chilicera, amazing web structures , whistling, all amazing attributes that I find way more interesting then a pretty pattern and yes every hair on your t or spiders body is like an over sensitive sensor, they can tell vibrations, pheromones, and even air pressure, they are quite amazing creatures, most can't see well either and use their web to put down a map of their area I was told its like GPS in their head , they even use the web to talk to each other when mating the male will strum drum and tap on the map web to let the female know he isn't food lol she will respond aswell to let him know it's OK to proceed. Truly amazing. You will find lots of info like that on here , I knew nothing about spiders 4 years ago but I read alot on here, the search bar is the best function they have and your very welcome if you ever have questions I am always happy to help and if idk the answer I will try n help find it oh n welcome to the boards

Any time and I agree I like ab better then the other sites. You get the odd person who is blunt but you understand why after answering the same question for 20 years but for the most part everyone on here just wants to help. It's a great resource not just for info but for friends too
Yes unfortunately the males never live as long I am lucky n my SO breeds t's so I don't have to worry about getting males he usually has the female my little dude needs but it is a shame they aren't as long lived as usually they have the brightest colours, but either way I love them all and tbh I find the differences in behaviour between genders of the same sp fascinating males tend to be out more as slings but get skittish and bolty as they get larger where as females tend to hide till they get bigger then are out and 90% of the time super chilled. You get the occasional odd ball that does nothing the sp is famous for like with all creatures lol but I definitely find myself spending all free time watching them and the behaviour they develop, I suspect you'll do the same
Yeah mate, my bad found out from another member that they can actually detect the vibration through their webbing from the noise the camera makes when pic being taken. WTF?! Had no idea their senses were that sensitive, which is sooooo damn cool. However, yes, the flash didn't help my cause either too. Learnt a crap load in such a short time. Grateful for the new knowledge . Thankyou for your help though and for replying to my post
