This is the species that just came in that they are calling Ornithoctonus sp. "Ranong Blue-violet Earth Tiger" or "Ranong Big Blue" tarantula. 3 in. Female
Doesn't look very blue to me. It looks like O. aureotibialis. Is it more blue in person?

Not really a thing for me. Also not a very profitable species since there were a lot of WC specimens from imports which in itself already put it at a lower price. People producing Asian OW's in captivity very quickly these days. Still a cool locale nonetheless.

I agree, it will be a hobby staple much like C lividus but it won’t be too expensive unless males don’t exist in the hobby.

I didn't get to sex out all that came in. I just grabbed the biggest one so don't know amount of male to female count in order. But alot have came in. So it's a crap shot at this point. It's a dark colored t but blue shines more in bright light. It is very similar to the O. aureotibialis but the striping on the abdomen is very faint. Have to really look for it to see it. Depending on what site you read they say 5 to 7 in. Full grown. They are coming in around 2.5 to 3.5 in. So be a while before I get to see what it turns out to be like. I'll be picking up a couple more in the next couple of weeks to hold back.
