Cyriopagopus lividus - captured last night - any ideas of sex? Very angry!! I am thinking male from body shape - and the fact that it was wandering about a long way from its hole.
It's got a small abdomen, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's male. Could have been out hunting because it's hungry! What are you going to do with this angry spider?

Thanks for your input. I live in Thailand. This species occurs locally. I have 2 others - similar size - but in true Cobalt Blue form - I NEVER see them!! I would like to attempt to breed them. But (!) I have not sexed any of my C lividus - they have grown (all 4-5") - but they keep their moults underground with them!!
Your a lucky guy to be able to just go outside and gather up awesome tarantulas, i cant do that were i live as our tarantulas are lame as hell. What others of the genus do you see in your area? I keep most of the Cyriopagopus genus as they are one of my favorites.

Hi , The Cobalt Blue is the only species I have found locally. Haplopelma minax should occur where I live, but I am yet to see it. Unfortunately many Ts can be seen at markets, where they are sold as food . The Thai zebra occurs in wetter areas. I am in the West, close to Myanmar. It is very hot and dry here for over 6 months of the year. Cheers

Yeah i have seen a few videos of people frying up tarantulas and putting seasoning on them and eating like fried chicken it sucks to watch as they are awesome tarantulas. Too bad they aren't eating T.albos or G.roseas they have to eat the good ones hahahaha. Take care bud and good luck on your searches, remember to keep posting your pictures as id love to see more.
