Hello all,
I have bought this Salmon Pink T (LP) It is apparently 3-4 months old (from pet shop) I wondering if anyone can tell the sex from these pictures? I know you need the underside but I’ve heard of people telling from the legs - to do with something on them?
Thanks in advice for helping.
You can tell from the legs only when the spider gets mature...sorta...but you'll be able to know the sex waaaay before the spider gets mature.
Male LP's mature out at around 7 inches, and the legs are way more slender and longer than the adult female counterpart. Mature male LP's also have tibial hooks on their front legs. That's the only way you can sorta tell from the legs,so it is very male specific, while female legs will look...well,normal.
You will need to take a clear ventral picture of the abdomen,or wait for a molt. Only way to tell the sex.

Thank you. That’s the word I was looking for ‘tibial’ hooks. Guess I’ll have to play the waiting game until it moults.

Youre welcome! You shouldnt wait long. LP's are growing like weeds. Just keep it nicely fed and you should have a molt soon

I’ve had it 5 days and I think I can see an improvement on its size already. It gets fed twice a week, but can feed more if needed (so I’ve been recommended) I was watching it groom itself earlier. Amazing things!

Twice a week should be plenty enough, you might even slow down once it gets nicely plump.

I’ve got some pictures of the T on the side of the enclosure. Is there anyway I can send them in here without starting a new thread?

This is not really a thread,it's just a media attachment on the forum. Feel free to upload the image in this gallery, and feel free to tag me,then i'll tell you what i think. Though LP's are a bit tricky to sex ventrally for me,i'll try.
