Dont see this everyday!

Seen a camel/sun spider that got caught up in a black widow web at work today, it was a goner but one of the coolest things i have seen in a spider web.
Not the Solifugae, I meant the species of Widow spider that caught it. I assume it's Latrodectus hesperus.
I never seen the spider itself and i dont know scientific names outside of the tarantulas i keep. I live in utah if that helps.

Given your location I assume it's the western black widow (Latrodectus hesperus). Fascinating find but a bit sad since I like Solifugaes (camel spiders) too.

It is incredible how they can manage to snare critters so much larger than themselves.

We see the Solifugaes all the time here at work running around, but yeah i agree 100% it is crazy that they can capture critters way bigger than themselves.
