Gasteracantha cancriformis I found on the same day.

I've never been able to come across these. LUCKY YOU. Of all spiders they have the most unique looking abdomen I think.

Duuuuude I GREW UP with them and I’m so thankful for it. Even as a kid I absolutely adored them. Gorgeous webs and bodies! I found a male in my backyard recently and I have never been so mad iPhones don’t have a manual focus feature because I couldn’t get his image :/

The first time I saw them was in a book, and they were the most unique. Still hoping to see one in the wild!

They’re such an interesting-looking species and each time I find one in the wild I end up spending an inordinate amount of time viewing it from all angles just because there’s so much to look at. I found this individual in Miami but they’re all over my house in southeastern NC. Basically come to a state park near the beach (on the East coast) and you’ll find them!
