I did struggle with wether I should post photos of them at all. Given the controversy and their legal status. But I wanted to share my progress and hopefully help others with their care as I gain experience. The more information out there about seladonia the better. Well correct information anyway. I saw a tarantula magazine released an issue specifically about Typhochlaena seladonia and it’s riddled with inaccuracies. And the 2 people they interviewed have a single 2i sling, one of which hasn’t molted or made a trapdoor in 10 months! That doesn’t seem healthy and they definitely aren’t the best people to interview about care. I’m not even completely 100% about my care and I’ve seen them through a few molts.
Quite welcome!
You proved helpful info regarding their trap door creation and such, very helpful.
They should have interviewed you! Not many have them, and there’s even less info on them, at least here. Perhaps in EU there’s more info @Thekla ?
I don't know about more info but I didn't really look for that either.
What I do know is they have become way more available and less expensive. A sling goes between 80-100 Euro right now afaik.
And I know of one successful breeder here in Germany - Andreas Brunner. I think he was the first who bred these successfully and repeatedly here.
Maybe @birdspidersCH could help you further. He knows a lot of T. seladonia and he knows Andreas.
