PMS (♀ Ceratogyrus marshalli 5")
Miss Hissypants is suffering from pre-molt syndrome. As I filled her water dish, she unexpectedly lunged toward me and slapped my hand with surprising strength. She then held this threat pose for several minutes.
I just got one of these last weekend! Can you tell me any info on them being sexually dimorphic from their horn? I have heard mixed things on it and don’t know what to believe haha.

Ceratogyrus marshalli is sexually dimorphic. (This does not necessarily apply to other species of Ceratogyrus.)

Only females grow a horn. Males just have buttons.

If you look at my recent media I put a picture of mine on there with a good shot of the carapace, about a 3’’ juvenile. Could you maybe take a look and let me know your opinion?

even the chelicerae are furry. Its feet look like cat paws. So furry.

I'd have expected a lunge and a bite but a slap with the legs seems to be enough to deter the "predator"

I don't know too much about tarantulas... more of a scorpion enthusiast :scorpion: :scorpion:

She is normally pretty laid back (for an Old World species), and the water dish I was filling was some distance away from her.

I'm leaning female, but I have a sample size of one, so I might not be the best judge. If you want a second opinion, I'd post your best horn shot in the sexing gallery.
