Latrodectus hesperus - Western Black Widow Female

This cricket is having a bad day.
^I collected this gal late summer/early fall of last year. She didn't even have her adult coloring quite yet. My first pet widow.
Collected another a short time after.
I did recently observe one that just couldn't withstand the cold...dead. But, there is hope as she had left an egg sac - hopefully her young make it.

They are wickedly beautiful, IMHO. Observing the way they physically move and clean themselves and eat and drink water off of their webbing (especially) is very enjoyable for me.
