I know this may be an old comment, but yes, it is best to wait for a molt. Once you have the molt, you soak it in water and wait until it's soft. Then, check for a flap in the abdomen. If it has a flap, it's female. There are a few YouTube videos for it, for a more detailed explanation. Hope this helps!
