Cicadidae sp. Neotibicen sp. morph

Still working on a species ID for this but some sort of Neotibicen cicada morph

Focus stacked image.
Somewhere between 6-10 I took more but after too many images sometimes the quality or the AOF would get messed up. This was one of the first successful attempts I had ever done!

12mp for the win!! lol
Next goal is to learn how to stack, finally, lol. My camera has 18mp, it's not so far from yours.

18mp is like the perfect size and sensor quality. 30-40mp raw file the workflow is just horrible with such massive files. I think ill be upgrading to 24mp full frame this year. And ill help you with stacking!

I didn't know that 18mp were that good. Nice to know. Do you think fullframe cameras are better for macro shots?
Well, I think it’s a nice sweet spot for work flow when shooting raw images as far as size goes. I mean unless you’re blowing up super large or cropping a lot the new 40+mp you won’t notice the difference depending on glass.

and that’s debated because dx sized sensors (crop) effectively are ‘zoomed in by 1.5x’ making the subject appear closer but it’s not the full image that a lens will pick up. So there are some peopleshooting nature in situ macro like dragon flies and also bird photo from both far away where crop is beneficial so you don’t have to have a 200mm lens.

but all around the sensor on full frame is better the pixels are larger so higher quality. So you’ll notice that difference. The top of the line Pro canon and Nikon cameras used to be 12mp full frame and they did amazing jobs

nice pic! Took me a few seconds to identify it as a cicada! Nice closeup of its head... looks completely alien :O
