I know it's genus Avicularia, I was just wondering at the species. I was told A. avicularia when I got her, but that was from a pet shop that didn't specialize in tarantulas, so I've always been curious if it's correct.
There's only a few Avics that can be identified as an adult by a single picture because they are so obvious, like minatrix and versicolor. This is not one of them. Just enjoy your pet.
@viper69 Can they be identified more easily as slings? We do have pictures of it before the color reversal, back when she was pink-legged and black-toed with a serrated leaf pattern coloration on her dorsal abdomen.
@Abaddon749 No, haha, in fact, as slings it's almost impossible to casual eye. Not at all. Your description reads like almost all but a few of them. This is not a genus that can be identified via a picture, with only a few exceptions.
If you were told it was an Avic. avic. then what makes you think otherwise? I don't see anything to dispute that. If the petstore employees know the scientific name I wouldn't automatically disagree. Most petstores only label them pink toe which I can understand the uncertainty of ID, but here, that is not the case.
