Avic sp.?

What sp. could this be? It was sold as Avic avic but not sure. It's also quitw large (7"+)
Looks alot like my A.urticans, aka "Peru Purple". My girl has that same kinda purple butt, but her hairs are not missing. Mine never kicks, just kinda twerks it!

The red abdomen makes me think urticans. All of my Aviularia metallicas have the same white tipped setae everywhere, no color differences.

Also Avicularias do not kick hairs like a terrestrial, their urticating setae on located on the underside of their abdomen, If i'm not mistaken. The balding looks like possible pre-molt to me

The urticating hairs are located on the top where the bald spot is, not on the under side. They evolved with animals (critters looking for a snack) approaching them from the dorsal side as they crawl belly down. Not from humans holding them.

That is not an A. metallica. I've owned those before. With a few exceptions, urticating setae are on the dorsal side of the abdomen for Ts. The mechanism of release from T to a threat does have variation, as does the pattern of the mirror patch where the u-setae are located.

With all that said, you have a pretty Avic and that's all anyone is going to be able to tell you. ID'ing Ts via a pic, esp Avics where so many look like each other, not to mention how a T can look different in one pic to the next, is not useful or WISE.

In short it's a waste of time. There are only a few readily recognizable Avics from pics. A versicolor, and A. minatrix are 2 easy ones.

Whatever you do, just don't breed it or you will pollute the hobby with your FrankenTs.
