Male. That dark semi-circle patch of hair above the furrow is the epiandrous fusillae - the grouping of specialized spinnerets specifically for sperm web production. It is visible in some males at smaller sizes than others and that is why it is important for people to always include the size in requests.
 
Yes he does... too well. Having to tryleave patches in feeding. But then he goes mad if I leave a day out lol
