Someone surrendered this little guy. Would greatly appreciate ID so that I can provide proper care
At a wild guess, it looks very Phormictopus to me. Which one will become evident when it reaches a couple inches and starts showing adult colours. Don't take the above as gospel as I may be wrong, though.
Phormictopus species from Cuba are brown as slings not blue like the others. You may have Phormictopus auratus as it is brown, and it appears to be trying to burrow. My P auratus (bought as a juvi) basically dug down and I didn't see it for a couple of moults. Soon as it hit 3", now it's out all the time.
I care for my Phormictopus slings the same. Moist substrate and a max of 2" substrate to burrow in until they reach 1.5" then I give them a bit more depth to burrow.
