I bought her (in Germany) as an ”0.1 Aphonopelma „new river“”. I asked the seller if she was an A chalcodes with new river being the locality, what he confirmed . Anyways, I’m kind of confused right now, could she be another Aphonopelma such as A schmidti? How could I differentiate and be sure?
There are some US members who will probably be able to tell straight away as they are native there.
Certainly speaking from my experience across Europe and UK I would say A chalcodes - New River locale. But like I say, hopefully some of the IS members see this.
New River is in Arizona, just north of Phoenix - which is smack-dab in the center of A. chalcodes territory. Not sure why anyone would collect a specimen there and think it's anything other than chalcodes, unless they're just trying to do some creative marketing.

Ah, gotcha. Aphonopelma schmidti is a junior synonym of A. chalcodes, so they're one in the same. Aphonopelma chalcodes is the correct/current taxonomic name.
