That aside..... new hobbyists can sometimes be influenced by AB and this kind of image can send the wrong signal to new keepers about it being "OK" to handle t's. However, for the record, I'm not innocent, I've handled my t's occasionally. Perhaps this photo was taken during a rehouse, and it just happened to crawl on your hand in the transfer - when many keepers will take pics because of the cool T on their hand.

This is my personal opinion, but I don't see any reason in handling, except for exposure therapy in the presence of a professional.
I keep reading "it escaped from the terrarium, so I picked it up", but that's what catch cups are for. This has nothing to do with being afraid of the animal, but with what's best and safest for it. If the T bolts up your arm, what then? Best case scenario, it stops at a visible spot and not on your back / neck. Again, this is my personal opinion, but I would say that it's not completely unreasonable. If not for the well being of the animal, then for the investment I've made...
JMO...but I'm of the opinion that the single best way to wreck a t pic is to show it being held....looks bad (unnatural) and provides a poor example for the less informed.
I personally don't care man. I get why it's shunned and that its unnatural but so is keeping a spider in a box to start with. I've held all of our spiders including my funnels, why? To show my son that spiders aren't monsters and if treated with respect and care they won't hurt you ive done the same with snakes and salt water crocodiles never had an issue apart from an angry scrub python I had to remove from a chook shed that tried to eat my face off.
I just don't get why everyone gets on the "berate the T handler" band wagon when they usually have plenty of pics with them also handling thier spiders.
And for the record I like your photo TarantulaTech it really shows the scale of your beautiful T. But I'm just some uninformed newbie so dont listen to me.
Many thanks to Sam89. I do agree with you that responsible handling of Ts should be OK . I had faced many criticisms from online. I do not handle my Ts all the time, just take some opportunity like during a re-housing or in this case, an escape to appreciate my pet. For newbies, it is till best not to handle. Only with the Ts on your hand can you better admire their beauty and grace, rather than fear.
