[¥] Avicularia Avicularia measurement's [¥]

The lady* molted a few day's ago .. her size before the
molt was 5 inches and now she grew to 6 Inches
... i found that interesting as the max size of an
Avicularia Avicularia should be around 4.5 - 5.5 Inches
from what i could find on various info pages on the net.

Additional info i got from the PetStore i bought her
at was that she was 1 year old and was a lady.

Furthermore i fed her Generously prior to her molt:
2 Cricket's a week.
Sometimes 1 Cricket + a SuperWorm.

So my question is if they can grow larger than those
measurement's i found on the net .. and if this is
common or uncommon .. and also at such a young
age ^^

Thanks in advance for answering :D

[SideNote]:
*That's her name
Also submitted a picture of her, although it is hard
to tell her measurement from it as she isnt next
to a ruler ... will try to get a pic with a Ruler later
on when she has rested up proper after her molt.

So the thing about Avic. avic is that the species isnt just one species its several lumped together because they look very near the same. So the fact that you have a 6" Avic. avic isnt to odd its just one more sign pointing to a mixed species.

Thanks for the Reply and information there Gumby :D

Thing that started me wondering was that the
information given was allways being done so in a
way that "to me" didnt sound like there was much
deviation's from the "rule" of general size.

Furthermore:
Mind elaborating on "Lumped Together" and
"Mixed Species .. you mean mixed Genes or
Nearby closely related, closely looking alike
member's of the Avicularia Family being
Mislabeled ?

Also makes me wonder how large she will grow
if she's this size at 1 year ...
*Envision's a Monster Avic throwing it's owner
out of his BedRoom and that same owner is
forced to sleep on the couch*

My question would be how the person at the pet store knew that it was only 1 year old. Any bets on that person just saying that so it appears to be "young" and therefore with most of it's life left to live in an attempt to make a quick buck?

[¥] Possibly so [¥]

I have concidered that as well ... mayhaps the Growth Rate
alone could give a "clue" as to how old it could be .. with as
i read here and there that Older a Tarantula get's ... the
less it increase in size from molt to molt size.

But that's just a theory .. and Exeption's to the "Rule"
may potentially occur there as well i presume.

I could investigate further with the PetStore once Monday
arrives .. but i wont be convinced of any age truly, unless
i was there to see it hatch from it's egg .. anything less
would just be heresay .. or how to label it.

But im still intrigued ^^
Thanks for the Reply there PrimalTaunt

Also, not to come off as an ass or anything like that but could you get a picture of it next to a ruler or at least another picture of it with something else in it to help give us an idea of scale?

[¥] No problem [¥]

Not to worry there and sure will ... just thought i'd give her
a bit more time to rest up from her Molting before i'd try
to set that up.

Unless i could sneak a Ruler in there but it would be at an
Angle i recon, and thus still hard to tell exact measurement's.

But yep .. as soon as there is opportunity ^^
I want to know the exact measure myself.

Thanks there sharpfang ^^

Yep .. shes a Beauty, he he.
I was amazed at the size increase after her molt,
there was leg's going everywhere in her Lair when
she spread'em out.

shes very pretty.
i read in a few spider books that they only grow to 5" and thats considered large, then on other sites etc people say theirs are 7" etc.
i think alot of people who write books only go by what their t's have been like and assume that thats the rule and that anything diff is wrong. just like when they say rosies are boring pet rocks......so not true. :)

Thanks there jellybean .. i'll pass that on
to her that you thought so :D

And yep .. that's part of the charm for
me when they break the "Rules" "we" set
up, he he ... like i read in post's about
Aboreal's behaving as Terrestial's and so
on .. i find that facinating ... and like my
Avic too by personality is realy super
calm and relaxed .. They're supposed to
be Skittish and Jumpy .. as it turns out,
im the jumpy one when it comes to us 2
l.o.l .. when i do check up on her "by
nudging her gently with a paintBrush"
she only once struck a lazy threat pose,
and nowerday's she just moves half an
inch, rotates 90 Degrees or curl up
slightly ... no skittish behaviour noted as
such .. only had her spooked slightly one
time when having her out for a walk.

[¥] Relative Measure [¥]

Somewhat show's her new size
in comparison to the Terrarium.

Thought i'd throw this up whilst
im waiting for her to finish
resting, so that shot next to a
ruler could be taken.

What are the dimensions of the enclosure? Specifically the front part.

[¥] The Measure of a Lady [¥]

She's a bit curled up .. alas if she
stretched out i imagine she would
reach 6 inches easily.

Also been studying a lot of
pictures on Avicularias ...
And she dosent realy look
like the Stereotypical
Avicularia Avicularia .. any
second opinion's on that
would be apreciated.

So here's what I did. I put a paper on my screen with the edge of the paper going from the front leg to the back opposite leg and made two little marks. I then put that next to the ruler adjacent to it and, according to that method of measurement found that she is 4.8125 (4 13/16) inches. Still a fairly large avic but it does fall in their normal range.

[¥] Merry Christmas ^^[¥]

Just got home from Crhistmas Dinner here
being tired in the Face ... pardon in
advance for my absence of mental clarity.
=P

Thanks for replying .. alas i was a bit pussled.
What did you measure ?
One of your Tarantulas using this method ...
or the picture of mine showing on your Screen ?
*Your CPU Monitor Screen may not show Actual
correct Size*

Also she's a bit curled up and pardon for that ..
cant get a 100% reading from it, i know .. but
it's the best shot i managed so far ... thought
was that it may provide more of an idear of
her size .. but hepp .. it's not perfect.

Good method tho .. i like it .. will try that later on
too .. trick is just to catch her at a moment when
she's stretching :D

Basically I measured the distance from her front left leg to back right leg and then transferred that measurement to the ruler that is also in the picture.

[¥] Aa oo i see [¥]

Cheer's.

Awright i see now .. yep did the same and came to
that result ... also she's Slightly curled up so it's
not an exact science of full measurement.

I think she could stretch out an extra inch tho if
she wanted .. but that may just be me coming
down wishfully thinking l.o.l

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as measuring T's go, isn't it supposed to be a measurement of the T at a relaxed stance, not fully stretched out? In that picture you posted of her beside the ruler seems to be a relaxed stance. I know everyone does it differently, but I would put that Avic at 4.75"-5". I could be wrong though, who knows.
