Advertisement Trying to avoid the drama, but here goes: the site, the forum, etc., and the people behind them, are not trying to act as the sole authority on the day. Its a place to come together and organize. Its not one event, with rules and regulations for how it is to be run. Its people from all over the world, coming together on one day to appreciate tarantulas, and discussing how they plan to do so. Everyone is welcome to make their own t-shirts and such, it doesn't make any one more or less 'official'. eighteight.org is just the headquarters for the holiday. its worldwide tarantula day, because its good to focus. If we broadened it to arachnid day, people would complain that it doesn't include other inverts. then if we made it invert day, people would want reptiles, fish, mammals, etc., included. Then there would be people wanting to include plants and stuff, and it would just lose all meaning. This doesn't mean you can't include other arachnids in your local celebrations. Its just not the main focus of the day. okay, all that said, i'm backing out of the drama again.
