What kind of spider is this?

I was recently clearing patch of grass by my house when I came across this big fellow, it scared me and I have no idea what it is. I researched and everything I found nothing. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

they get quite large, reaching a body length of 25mm occasionally, and a legspan of two inches
