What is this little critter?

Found this guy at the beach don't know what it is. looks like a centipede but was swimming in the water and is flourescent. Can get more pictures if you want.

Really can't tell. Chances are, it's a polychaete worm.

Oh, that's not a polychaete. Might be an amphipod, but don't count on that.

Yeah it was found in the water at beach and looks like a arthropod.

Which beach did you find it at? I haven’t been to the beach in a good 5 years, but haven’t seen anything like that I don’t think.

Would it be a bad idea to stick it on your arm and see what happens? For science of course.

Parasitic as to fish, like the fish louse or maybe to other arthropods. I've never seen one of those either, what's the other side look like?

The arthropod was looking for food in the sand. When I brought it home it laid on its side flipping a tail flipper

My guess is a June Beetle, but I haven’t seen one in person, so I’m probably wrong. (Responded to the wrong thread, sorry!)

How big was it? It might have been a nymph, looking very diff from the adult form. It's the claws on the end of the legs, like with this parasitic crustacean pictured. Maybe it's lives in a hole in the sand and grabs things with those claws. It's pretty weird whatever it was/is.

not sure what it is but whatever you do don't stick it in your ear. I saw a Star Trek movie where that happened and it didn't turn out so well for that guy.

That's it! ..some kind of Synisoma, they use those claws to hang on to vegetation and rocks. Glad you found that, it was bugging me a little.
