in the past I've used cocofiber with sphagnum moss for both terrestrial and arboreal species with higher humidity needs, wondering though if there might be something that better lends itself to burrowing behaviors?

Myself I use mix of coco fiber, peat moss and vermiculite. I know some people love to use top soil or sedge peat (looking at @The Grym Reaper ).
Generally you probably have to try out some options and see what works for you. In general I dislike coco fiber alone as it doesn't keep the humidity for too long.

I use a mix of topsoil, sedge peat and fine vermiculite. Everyone has their own opinion on what the best substrate or mix is so just experiment and see what works best for you.
