it has been a few days since my wax moths emerged, but I have still yet to see any signs of mating or egg laying. Is there anything I may have missed out?

I think they need actual honey comb or a similar substitute, they are obligate pests of beehives.

Wait a couple weeks before expecting results. Warning: baby waxworms are tiny, love to wander, and are a pain to contain.

I've used a simple mix of crushed bran and honey mixed to a firm consistency in the past with great results. Add a little wax paper as the adults apparently oviposit within it. Despite mating, I never observed any signs of eggs before, but regularly had hatch outs of thousands from just a couple dozen adult moths.
