Versicolor lost color

my versicolor is maybe 1.5 in and seems to have lost his chevrons on the abdomen is this normal for a small T? seems soon to lose his color?

I believe thats about the size when they become more 'overall black-black/purple'... as opposed to the color they are as slings,, which in certain lights/angles looks blue/violet/aqua.... they become less colorful as juvies and start becomming more colorful in their bristles as they mature... hence the beautiful adult coloration..
